Summary:

Under the supervision and guidance of the Director of Youth Services, the THRIVE Program Coordinator is responsible for meeting the program objectives, building relationships with youth, facilitating TOP and Making Proud Choices curriculum.

Essential Functions:

  • Present TOP and Making Proud Choices life skills and sexuality curriculum in school & community based.
  • Help students identify appropriate service projects.
  • Empower and support youth in the community service-learning component.
  • Create opportunities for participants to connect learning gained through service to academic studies and ultimately to their lives.
  • Provide outreach to youth who are identified high risk.
  • Must be available to attend trainings and meetings outside regular work scheduled as needed.
  • Maintains a detailed log of all activities on a daily basis via Microsoft outlook.
  • Any other duties assigned by supervisor.

Skills and Abilities:

  • A minimum of a BS degree in Social Work, Human Services or related field.
  • At least two years working with Latino and African-American youth13-21 years old.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Fingerprint clearance through NYS Department of Education preferred.
  • Good physical and mental health and be able to model healthy behaviors to youth.
  • Valid NYS license and access to own transportation.
  • A combination of training and experience other than the specified, if judged to be adequate for the job, may be accepted by the President and CEO

Physical Demands:

The position does require occasional standing, squatting, lifting of up to approximately 10 lbs. And frequent sitting.
