Under the supervision of the Prevention Coordinator, the Prevention Educator is responsible for carrying out day to day program objectives in a fast paced independent environment.


Essential Functions: 

  • Carry out assignments with collaborative partners and serve as a community resource for neighborhood youth.
  • Plan and coordinate program activities when appropriate with other Proyecto Ayuda Outreach (PAO) staff.
  • Maintain proper documentation and files such as Pre/Post test, evaluation forms and surveys for individuals served.
  • Provide progress and monthly reports to Prevention Coordinator.
  • Implementing Evidence Based Curriculum (Too Good for Drugs) for youth, parents and school/agency personnel.
  • Participate in planning of annual events.
  • Perform outreach at City of Rochester Recreation Centers and other neighborhood locations as directed by the Prevention Coordinator.
  • Provide transportation and/or interpreting services for clients on an as needed basis.
  • Provide information and referrals to neighborhood youth.
  • Attend training, conferences, and workshops.
  • Attend monthly and bi-monthly department meetings.
  • Any other duties assigned by supervisor.



This position holds a relatively high degree of independence within the framework of the agency's policies and procedures. The individual must be resourceful and able to display initiative and understanding of management systems and interpersonal relations.


Position Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Social Science, Health or Human Services is highly preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience in direct services with youth, Rochester area neighborhoods and human services resources is required.
  • Experience with trauma informed care is required.
  • Must be bi-lingual with the ability to speak English & Spanish fluently.
  • Familiarity with administering Evidence Based Curriculum is required.
  • Knowledge or experience working with OASAS funded programs is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Positive Youth Development principles is preferred.

Physical Demands:

The position does require occasional standing, squatting, lifting of up to approximately 30 lbs. And frequent sitting.
