Summary:

Under the supervision of the Resident Manager, the DSP Team Leader will foster independence in the residence through individual program plans, recreational activities and one-on-one counseling. The Team Leader will be part of an Interdisciplinary treatment plan. Responsible along with the other staff for the maintenance of the home and the welfare of the residents

Essential Functions:

  • Performs regular duties as per the Job Description of Direct Support Professionals.
  • Ensures that all support staff in shift enforce the 3 IP concepts.
  • Ensures that tasks are completed at the end of the shift.
  • Debrief with counselors before the end of shift to discuss accomplishments and not completed tasks.
  • Ensures that recreational activities are done.
  • Ensures that all consumers A.D.L.'S are done and that goals are worked on.
  • Keeps track of resident's clothes inventory.
  • Ensures that residents participate in the preparation of their lunch for next day.
  • In the absence of Manager does the scheduling.
  • In the absence of the Manager deals with residents finances.
  • Ensures that all Res. Hab. notes are completed at the end of the shift.
  • Ensures that fire drills are done on a regular basis.
  • Keeps Manager abreast of any issues that need management attention.
  • Ensures that residents are treated with respect and dignity.
  • Ensures overall cleanliness of the house.
  • Ability to work with individuals with different cultural backgrounds.
  • Keep books updated on a monthly basis.
  • Reports any unusual situations suspicions or witnessing of abuse involving consumers, to the Residence Manager in a timely fashion.
  • Responsible for calling six (6) hours in advance if not reporting for scheduled shift.
  • Adheres to agency program policies and procedures.
  • Performs other necessary duties relevant to the position as requested by the Residential Manager and approved by the Residence Supervisor.

Authority:

This position exercises considerable initiative and independence in setting goals, activities and resident reviews. Under the general supervision of the Residence Manager, she/he will maintain a professional and responsible work environment for the program.

Skills and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Six months Human Service experience.
  • Current valid NYS driver's license.
  • A combination of training and experience other than the specified, if judged to be adequate for the job, may be considered.

Physical Demands:

  • The position does require occasional standing, squatting, lifting of up to approximately 50 lbs. And frequent sitting.
