Summary:

Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Payroll Clerk will process bi-weekly payroll and maintain employee time records.

  • Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees' hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information.
  • Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions.
  • Remove terminated employees from the HRIS after their final payroll has been processed.
  • Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
  • Records and processes federal and state payroll tax deposits.
  • Prepare a bi-weekly OT report to be shared with the Executive Leadership team.
  • Assist HR Generalists and employees with the Benefits Enrollment process.
  • Any other duties assigned by supervisor.

Authority:

This position holds a relatively high degree of independence within the framework of the agency's policies and procedures. The individual must be resourceful and able to display initiative and understanding of management systems and interpersonal relations. Must keep immediate supervisor abreast of issues and concerns which merit intervention from higher level management staff.

Skills and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three to five years of experience in payroll processing.
  • Working knowledge of Paylocity a plus.
  • Valid driver's license, ability to provide own transportation and travel to various locations.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
  • A combination of training and experience other than the specified, if judged to be adequate for the job, may considered.

Physical Demands:

The position does require occasional standing, squatting, lifting of up to approximately 15 lbs. And frequent sitting.
