Summary:

Under the supervision of the Chief Human Resources Officer, the Human Resource Generalist will oversee various daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide personnel policy and procedure guidance to employees
  • Administer compensation and benefit plans
  • Assist in talent acquisition and recruitment processes
  • Conduct employee onboarding and help organize training & development initiatives
  • Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics such as leaves and compensation and resolve any issues that may arise
  • Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace
  • Assist in development and implementation of human resource policies
  • Undertake tasks around performance management
  • Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics, like time to hire and employee turnover rates
  • Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form
  • Ensure compliance with labor regulations
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment law and compliance requirements
  • Respond to human resources-related inquiries.
  • Responsible for the processing of bi-weekly payroll in a timely manner
  • Assist with payroll functions as needed
  • Create and distribute internal communications regarding status changes, benefits, or company policies
  • Monitor employee morale and company culture through wellness initiatives
  • Process complaints regarding sexual harassment, discrimination, or other instances of workplace harassment and assist in any necessary investigations and disciplinary actions as directed
  • Distribute exit interviews and recommend any additional follow-up
  • Prepare billing for agency benefits on a monthly basis
  • Review, research and respond to unemployment claims
  • Review workplace injury reports for accuracy and submit information to workers compensation vendor
  • Attends seminars as necessary to maintain skills and knowledge required of human resources.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

This position holds a relatively high degree of independence within the framework of the agency's policies and procedures. The individual must be resourceful and able to display initiative and understanding of management systems and interpersonal relations.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Associates degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field required, bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years human resources experience
  • Experience with HRMS/HRIS systems, knowledge of Paylocity a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook)
  • HR Certification a plus
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
  • A valid NYS driver's license

Physical Demands:

The position does require occasional standing, squatting, lifting of up to approximately 20 lbs. And frequent sitting.
