Summary:

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Janitor/Maintenance will be responsible for janitorial and building maintenance for all Ibero locations and IRAs.  Includes lifting of heavy equipment.

Essential Functions:

  • Reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Establish good working relationship with agency staff.
  • Opens the assigned sites (disarms system and turns on lights), opens doors for incoming staff when needed.
  • Perform tasks related to the proper upkeep of the property, both interior and exterior.
  • Cleaning Cleaning bathrooms, sweeping, mopping, washing, waxing floors, cleaning windows, dusting equipment, mowing, vacuuming  staff  offices and any other location there are rugs, wiping down tables and or polishing tables, etc.
  • Fixing Ex:  Paint as needed, fix walls/ceilings tears and wear, cleans visible wall vents, etc.
  • Uses cleaning equipment such as floor polishing machine, shampooer and vacuum cleaner.
  • Notifies supervisor of the need to order janitorial supplies.
  • Stocks janitorial supplies.
  • Maintains the grounds and facilities to ensure safety. Snow removal, salting, keeping stair ways free of obstacles, etc.
  • Acts as a messenger to deliver or pick-up packages and or janitorial supplies around the area when needed.
  • Monitor disposal of garbage ensuring containers are closed and mandates from the Dept. of Health are up to date.
  • Sets up the conference rooms and or training rooms for meetings, events or trainings. (Placing tables and or chairs where specified.)
  • Any other duties assigned by supervisor.

                                                                                                             

Authority:

This position holds a relatively high degree of independence within the framework of the agency's policies and procedures. The individual must be resourceful and able to display initiative and understanding of safety systems.

Skills and Abilities:

  • High school Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
  • Experience in cleaning buildings.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Physically able to carry and lift heavy equipment.
  • Must possess a valid NYS driver's license and meet Ibero Vehicle Operator Requirements.
  • Bilingual Spanish and English preferred but not required.
  • A combination of training and experience other than the specified, if judged to be adequate for the job, may be considered. 

Physical Demands:

The position does require occasional standing, squatting, lifting of up to approximately 50 lbs. and frequent standing.
